On Saturday 1st Dec, Denison Masonic Lodge members, their friends and families received a presentation from Will Stanway a Scout who has, along with six other Scouts from Scarborough been selected to join 29 other Yorkshire Scouts in attending the 24th World Scout Jamboree in the summer of 2019.
The Jamboree is to be held at Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia USA with over 45,000 participants from around the world.

Will explained that each participating Scout needed to raise £3,620.00 sponsorship which goes towards travel costs, all events whilst in the USA, equipment and training camps.
A further part of the money goes into an International Solidarity Fund which helps Scouts from less economically developed countries to attend the Jamboree and participate on a level footing.

Will also outlined how he had researched the historical similarities and connections with the Freemasons and how both organisation share the same values and approach to life in helping others.

In total Scarborough Freemasons and the Masonic Province of Yorkshire North and East Ridings have donated £900.00 for Will’s life changing adventure.
Leopold Lodge having given £300.00, Denison £100.00 and The Provincial Grand Charity £500.00.

Doug Stanway, Will’s father also attended on Dec 1st. Doug is a member of the Leopold Lodge and he expressed his gratitude for the donations and how proud he was that we were able to help.
