On Sunday 20th November 2016, Denis Kelly, Provincial Grand Charity Steward, presented Victoria Wilson, Home Manager at the RMBI Home at Connaught Court, York, with a cheque for £5,000 from The Provincial Grand Charity of Yorkshire North & East Ridings.
The presentation was made during the Annual General Meeting of the Association of the Friends of Connaught Court (AOFOCC).
The grant is to be used for the purchase of some ‘Rempods’ in the Dementia Suite plus some flooring modifications. ‘Rempods’ which are also referred to as ‘pop ups’ are boards that are placed within rooms to change the general appearance so as to represent styles that would be familiar to elderly dementia patients. This could be an old fashioned kitchen or even a railway carriage of a bygone era and are helping to improve the life of people with dementia.
Denis explained that the Provincial Grand Charity has regularly used the excellent facilities at Connaught Court for their charity Committee Meetings and that the Standing Committee members wished to show their appreciation in a positive way for the use of the facilities and the friendliness of the staff whenever we visit.
